The China national team Flash Gaming has abandoned the WESG APAC Finals without informing the WESG Organizing Committee in advance. This behavior has violated Article Nine and Article Ten of WESG General Regulations.

WESG APAC Finals is scheduled on January 11 to 14, 2018 in Jiaozhou, China. Teams and players from 24 countries and regions will compete for the championship title during the four days event.

Regarding the China national team Flash Gaming, the team has confirmed their participation and was informed of tournament details on December 28th, 2017. Only when the WESG Organizing Committee reached out on January 5th, 2018 to arrange flights for players, did the Committee learn that Flash Gaming will abandon the competition. Due to urgency of the situation, the fourth place team of China qualifiers Team Max kindly agreed to represent China in the CS:GO category albeit a lack of time for preparation.

According to Article Nine and Article Ten of WESG General Regulations, once the event schedule is announced, no advancing or delaying request of competition will be accepted (except for special cases). If the player cannot participate in the game on time, he or she should inform the WESG Organizing Committee within 24 hours after receiving the competition notification. Otherwise, It will be considered as abstention. If the team (or an individual) did not inform the Organizing Committee of the World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) that they are unable to participate in the competition on time, or the team (or an individual ) is absent from the competition for the day without permission (except for special cases). They would be considered as abstention and will be banned for the game (resulting in a 1 year ban to even a life ban as determined by the severity of the situation).

The China national team Flash Gaming had not communicated their withdrawal within 24 hours of receiving the competition notification. Instead, WESG staff was informed when making air ticket reservation. Flash Gaming has violated the WESG General Regulations Article Nine and Article Ten. Such a violation will not only negatively affected the overall performance of all Chinese national teams competing at WESG, but also the tournament organizers, other participating teams, and spectators. Hereby, the WESG Organizing Committee has issued a major warning to the Chinese national team Flash Gaming. We hope Flash Gaming will provide further explanations on the situation to the WESG Organizing Committee and the other participating teams. WESG reserves the right to issue further punishment..

Since this is the first time of such violation since WESG’s inauguration. The WESG Organizing Committee hopes to kindly remind all national delegates the importance of mutual respect towards the rights and obligations of participating countries. WESG Organizing Committee will do its best to provide each competitor a fair environment. WESG wishes all participating players and teams success in representing their countries in the upcoming tournament.
